A tribute to our mother Clare Philipps

90 YEARS OF LOVE

CLARE PHLIPPS

Ninty years old and very happy to be

What a wonderful, lovely, and caring lady is she

Today we celebrate the beautiful long, long life

Of a very special daughter, sister, mother, and wife

Many changes in this world, those eyes have seen

Doing laundry, from the rub board to the washing machine

Working hard all your life, you still find time for others

The funny stories you relate from years gone by

Keep us laughing and bring tears to our eyes

Keep singing those lovely Gospel songs we love to hear

And telling us about God’s love you hold so dear

Your life’s not only a history book; it’s also a love letter

There’s not another person we could love any better

What a milestone this is 90 YEARS

As we all sing Happy Birthday to you, and shed a few tears

She Showed Her Love in Many Ways

Our mothers’ love is strong and true
Not a thing for us she wouldn’t say or do
Her very last dollar she would give
Or spend all night in prayer
Discipline, didn’t seem to bother her very much
She used anything handy, a ruler, hanger or whatever that is near her
All were overdosed with whacking except the youngest , we must truly confess
Even though we felt punished, we really were blessed
When it was time to eat, we always seemed to have food
It wasn’t always steak or fried chicken but sure was good
Sometimes our clothes may have been patched
But, most of the time, we are sure they matched
Yes, our mother loved us, and showed it in many ways
And some of the best is when she’d pray

We are so glad for the many ways mom showed her love to us
She taught us about The Lord
And all through our life from my birth until now
The signs of her love keep taking a bow
Those little seeds of love she’s sown keep sprouting
Our mother loved us, no, no doubting
